007 ROMA FILM SHOOT UPDATE
"SPECTRE"
Daniel Craig was in action on Saturday 21st February as he took the
new Aston Martin DB10 for a spin around the streets of Rome. Director
Sam Mendes and cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema were in attendance to
capture the sequence of 007 traveling to the funeral scene with Monica Bellucci that was captured on Thursday. Lots of tourists got a surprise when they saw 007 in action along the Via di San Gregorio, near the famous Colosseum.
This street was laid out over the tract of ancient
Via Triumphalis, between Celian hill (Celio) and Palatine Hills. The Palatine hill (Palatino) overlooking the Roman Forum is home to a number of palaces dating from the 1st century AD. Passing the gigantic
Arch of Constantine
across Via di San Gregorio you will find the "back exit" to the Roman
Forum. Its present look was created in the 30's of the 20th century,
when the old Via di S.Gregorio, arranged with the trees bordering it in
1835 by Gregory XVI, was amplified and named Via dei Trionfi. Now it
bears its previous name of S.Gregorio. The street is 500 meters long and
unfortunately represents a busy road with fast traffic disturbing the
solemn spirit of this place.
